The Velvet Fox

Cocktails · Low light · Live jazz

A small room behind an unmarked door, where the drinks are made slowly and the conversation carries.

Our story

Ninety years of ink, then cocktails

We opened The Velvet Fox in 2019 in a downtown building that had spent most of its life as a print shop. The presses are long gone, but the bones stayed: the original brick, the freight door, and a long narrow room that was built for machines rather than for people.

We kept the low ceilings and the dim light, and added what the room was missing — a proper back bar, a piano in the corner, and a short list of drinks made with some care. Nothing about the place announces itself from the street, which is rather the point.
